LICENSE FOR DATABASE OR PURCHASE OF SOURCE CODE

In addition to purchasing a license to use Strategirummet's version of the Power Market Simulator (PMS), there are two other options you can choose from:

  • You can get your very own PMS database, where you can insert data and price area divisions. When you run PMS on Strategirummet's server, you choose which of the databases to retrieve data from. You decide for yourself whether others should also have access to your data
  • You can purchase the source code, auxiliary tools and the database, and further develop your own versions of the model

The target groups for "Purchase of license for your own databases" and "Purchase of source code" are:

Purchase of license for your own database:

  • You are a company that does not have its own analysis model. The company wants to be able to analyze future earnings for existing and new power plants with its own data and without the use of external model specialists and external consultants
  • You are a company that has its own advanced market analysis model; but need a tool where you can use your own data, and:
    • which can quickly provide answers to some questions
    • which can be used to screen project opportunities
    • which can be used to test your own model
    • which can be used generally in the company by non-specialists

Purchase of source text + database + auxiliary tools

  • You are a company that does not have an advanced market analysis model
  • You want to build analysis skills internally in the company
    • to collect and use your own data for analyses
    • to be able to make your own changes to the analysis model
    • possibly to market analyses made with your own version of PMS

In connection with the decision whether to use the regular export/import function in PMS to save your own area-divisions and data, or whether to purchase a license for your own PMS database, there are the following important points to note:

  • The export/import function in PMS is not intended and built as an additional database. The system is developed so that the user can save the changes the user makes when analyzing a system that has the PMS database as the primary data source. The changes via Export/Import are saved in the Umbraco database in some text files.
  • When you buy a license for the database, you can insert your own data into the PMS-sql database. You can then directly access this data when running PMS. This creates easier access and much greater security.
  • If, for example, you want to divide existing price areas into sub-areas for testing purposes, you can do that by with purchasing a license for PMS-Experimental. If, on the other hand, you want to use the division more permanently, you should buy a license for the PMS database, because then you can save the division in the database and on the world map. This gives you the opportunity to load different profiles for electricity consumption, sun, wind and water in the divided areas

The license for the PMS database is free if you make the databases you develop available to everyone for free. Otherwise, a license costs 2,000 EUR every six months and 270 EUR for each upload to Strategirummets server.

When considering purchasing source code, auxiliary tools and database, there are the following points to consider:

  • If you have requests for new functions in PMS or for changing existing ones, you should purchase the model. Strategirummet will continuously implement new functions in our version of PMS, but we only implement those functions that have a broad target group
  • The source code for PMS are well documented, and the model is structured, so it is relatively easy to take over the model if you have employees who are familiar with C+ and Java
  • If you want to market analyses that have been carried out with your own version of Power Market Simulator, you should purchase the model

If you want to investigate the possibility of purchasing source code, database and auxiliary tools, you should write an email to fn@strategirummet.com.
